Ukraine: Under attack; Shares Expertise

Written by

Ukraine continues to face relentless aerial attacks, while its military’s hard‑won expertise in drone defence is drawing global attention and requests for help from other nations.

Over the past week, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that Russian forces have launched waves of drones and guided weapons against Ukrainian towns and infrastructure. These assaults have targeted energy facilities, housing, and transportation networks, underscoring the heavy toll this conflict has taken on everyday life. Civilians living under the constant drone threat continue to adapt, seeking shelter when alarms sound and pressing on with work, school, and family life despite fear and uncertainty. This persistent strain places emotional, physical, and economic pressure on families across the country.

While facing these attacks, Ukraine’s defence forces have built highly capable counter‑drone systems that have proven effective in protecting cities and strategic targets. Rather than keeping these tactics to themselves, Ukraine is now sharing its expertise with allied nations confronting similar threats. The United States, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Jordan and Kuwait have expressed interest in Ukraine’s experience in countering Iranian‑made “Shahed” drones - the same type used extensively by Russia in its assaults.

While Ukraine remains careful not to deplete its own defences, it is deploying groups of drone defence specialists and providing training and low‑cost interceptor drones to help protect other countries’ military bases and civilian areas.

This cooperation has practical and spiritual weight. In Jordan and the Gulf region, Ukrainian drone teams are deploying to train local forces and support protection efforts. Kyiv emphasises that any assistance given abroad is balanced with the need to keep its own skies defended. Many governments see Ukraine’s battlefield experience as invaluable in confronting new aerial threats that have emerged in multiple theatres of conflict, including Iran‑sourced strikes in the Middle East.

For Ukrainians, the war remains deeply personal. Parents worry about their children’s safety during air raid alerts, workers struggle to rebuild infrastructure after attacks, and displaced families pray for peace and shelter. War has become woven into daily routines, yet faith and resilience remain central to how many endure hardship.

1. Pray for Protection over Ukrainian Civilians

Lord, surround every family and home under threat. Calm their fears, preserve life, and grant courage during alarms. Bring peace into hearts and safety into communities, shielding children and parents alike. May Your presence be their refuge always.

“The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.”  Psalm 9:9

2. Pray for Ukraine’s Defenders and Specialists

Heavenly Father, empower Ukraine’s defenders and drone specialists with strength, discernment, and endurance. Guide their hands, protect their lives, and grant wisdom in every mission. Let them act courageously, trusting Your guidance as they safeguard their nation.

“The Lord will keep you from all harm; He will watch over your life.” Psalm 121:7

3. Pray for Ukraine’s role in drone defence

Lord, bless Ukraine’s efforts to defend lives with wisdom and skill. Multiply their resources, empower their teams, and let their knowledge protect others. Inspire collaboration and compassion, so that burdens are shared, lives are preserved, and Your glory is revealed.

“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2

Summary Prayer

Lord, we lift up Ukraine to You. Protect civilians, strengthen defenders, and bless efforts that safeguard lives. Provide for families under strain and calm fearful hearts. Raise peacemakers, guide leaders toward justice, and let Your peace and mercy prevail over conflict. Amen.
