The prayer movement in Latin America goes hand in hand with the Pentecostal Movement that was successfully absorbed in our culture as an answer to the social, political, and economic problems of the 22 countries that make up Central and South America.
In the last two decades we have seen changes and measurable changes as a result of the prayer movement in the region. One example of this has been church growth that has produced mega churches - in countries such as Guatemala, Colombia, Brazil, and Peru - which have attracted people from different social and economic classes to get together in large arenas week after week to offer worship to God. The region is growing and its democracy has progressed, but on the other hand we have another very interesting phenomenon. In the majority of countries, even those with a large number of Christians, there is no visible transformation or it is very slow in the cultural areas of influence (government, economy, family, religion, communication media, arts/entertainment, education) and these shortcomings continue to affect many millions of its people in terms of:
In different parts of the continent prayer has taken on different shapes and forms in churches, ministries, movements, lay groups, businessmen, Christian and people who believe that prayer continues to be the answer to the problems in the region and to that extent the Prayer Movement in Latin America fits the ability, vision and modality of the leaders who are at the forefront of the region.
