Pray 4 the Nations
At WPC, the team pray for a nation every day during our morning prayer time. We wondered if you would like to join us to Pray 4 the Nations.
We pray in our prayer room which has a huge map of the world on the wall – sometimes we need to check where our designated country is! Our pattern is to pray week days alternating between one of the fifty top persecuted nations (using information from Open Doors UK and other sources) and other nations of the world. We will pray for the country where elections are being held. We've found it useful to use information from Operation World to shape and inform our prayer.
We pray as the spirit leads us – listening to each other – using the scriptures to understand God's character and purpose as we pray. The purpose of prayer is to pray that Gods will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Jesus loves each nation and desires that people will be saved – we listen to him so that we can pray with faith and authority. Praying for the nations is a real privilege.

WPC Prayer Mob
You’ve heard of a flash mob or maybe a smart mob? A flash mob is a group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place and perform an unusual act for a quick time before quickly dispersing.
WPC Prayer Teams will be doing a prayer mob in Newton Heath, Manchester on 5 September 2015!
The Living Stones Christian community have been living and sharing faith on the Troydale Estate in Newton Heath over a number of years. As they seek the Lord for a breakthrough for an expansion of the Kingdom of God, they have invited us to spend a day standing with them in prayer in this needy inner city area. We’ll be out and about, so you’ll need to be reasonably fit and active, but if you’d like to join us on the day send us your contact details and location and we’ll send you information for the day and when and where to meet.

2000 PEOPLE JOIN IN BLOWING THE TRUMPET IN THE UK
On Saturday 4th July, 2000 people joined together in prayer and worship to ‘blow the trumpet’ in the ‘heart of the nation’. Christians from different cultures, denominations and ages descended on the International Convention Centre in Birmingham as World Prayer Centre hosted a national day of worship and prayer in response to God asking them to blow a trumpet in the land.
It was an awesome day of declaration, prayer and worship and there were powerful times of prayer for nations represented at the event- Greece, South Korea, Germany, and others. Prayer stations were created around the hall and people were encouraged to pray for the pillars of society – health, sport, education, business, religion, finance and the arts, media and entertainment.
DECLARING THE PURPOSES OF OUR GOD
A trumpet is blown to announce change and mobilise the Body of Christ. This is the time for rivers in the desert, for a dramatic and fresh move of God. It is time for God’s Word and Spirit to raise our faith, draw us closer to Jesus and fill us with a deep desire for His presence. He is calling his whole church to pray and prepare for an unparalleled spiritual harvest. These will be turbulent times – but Jesus reigns over every situation – and His love and grace will prevail.
PREPARING TO BLOW THE TRUMPET
Feel free to use the trumpet call declaration (below) used at TRUMPET CALL 2015 to mobilise people locally. You may wish to use this in a small group, prayer meeting, and church meeting or declare it over your village, town, neighbourhood or city. You may not have an actual trumpet – but making this declaration is a call for God’s people to be ready for action. There are four elements to the declaration.
- It is an announcement by faith of God’s heart and purpose.
- It will release prayer – determined, ongoing prayer to see His Kingdom come.
- It raises our expectation – God is moving in new ways in our land by His spirit.
- It positions us in a new place – with a passion for the presence of Jesus and a heart to bless.
OUR DECLARATION
The Supremacy of Christ
We declare that Jesus is the Creator and sustainer of all things, He is the Saviour of the world, He is the Head of the church, He is the Lord of our lives, He is the Hope for the world, and He is the King of kings and Lord of lords. Hallelujah!
The Salvation of Christ
We declare the Gospel of Christ, His life, death, resurrection and ascension is God’s plan for the redemption of all mankind. We declare Christ and Him crucified; that Calvary is a place of forgiveness, cleansing, healing and victory over death. We declare it’s time for harvest; a mighty move of God touching every part of this nation and our continent.
The Unity of God’s Church
We declare that our strong desire is to fulfil the prayer of Jesus that we be one, believing the Scripture that, “When brothers and sisters dwell together in unity, there God bestows His blessing even life for ever more.”
Release for our Children and Young People
We declare and prophesy a Jesus Generation of boys and girls, young men and women who will walk in the power of the Holy Spirit, knowing God’s protection, mercy and blessing as they take the Gospel to their families, friends, communities and the nations.
We declare the Grace and Mercy of God over each other and from this place the Trumpet Sound to reverberate in every village, town, city and nation, “That the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.” Amen and Amen.

Being A Watchman
One of the very clear aspects of World Prayer Centre’s ministry is that of being a watchman.
At our “Standing in the Gap” conference in 2014, Malcolm Duncan spoke powerfully about God’s desire for a Watchman Generation and how we need a fresh understanding of God’s watchman strategy. Some of the guidelines that Malcolm laid out are:
> Watchmen serve out of love for their community and church. The role of watchmen has been undermined by those who have served from an agenda and a sense of superiority – this is not the servant attitude God looks for
> The watchmen listen to God’s heart – they are attuned to His love, grace, and forgiveness
> Watchmen are humble, alert, available – they watch what is going on.
Watchmen warn – they must have credibility and good relationships with others if those warnings are to be heard and responded to
> They warn those who sin – Ezekiel 3:17 – calling the wicked to turn –they must be clear, they are accountable to God for a message that is difficult to deliver – but comes from love.
> In Isaiah 21 the watchman announces what he sees – he does not add to it, or interpret it
In these fast changing times God has a heart for our towns, cities and communities – often we are naïve about the dangers, therefore we cannot give the warnings. The key area of growth within the church is young people – it is also the key battleground – with horrendous tales of bullying, kidnapping, assaults, sexual predators, poor parenting, domestic violence. We need watchmen – who see, understand, and stir us to pray in this and other areas. We believe God is calling forth compassionate, alert and aware watchmen.
Warning……. Watchmen at Work

Ezekiel 33 gives a clear warning to the watchmen – if the trumpet is not blown to warn people the watchman will be held accountable for any deaths.
The watchman’s task is to watch – and then encourage and challenge people to act. Some watchmen have a call to protect their local community – others a wider calling. Rees Howells, the famous intercessor and his college students prayed daily throughout World War Two but his call went much further in the war’s critical stages.
In May 1940 the British Army faced annihilation on the beaches of Dunkirk. The King issued a national call to prayer and as many know the German tanks halted, the Channel became a millpond and 480,000 were rescued in small boats and returned to England. The warning was heard and the nation saved.
In the 1970’s I had a mentor from the Potteries called Bill – he loved the people of Northern Ireland and acted as a watchmen in the troubles. He gained credibility with the Police who gave him a special call sign – and when he called with a God given warning they evacuated places before the bombs went off or the shootings could happen.
Watchmen have a burden to pray protection on the place they are stewarding (it could be their local community, or their nation). As they pray, God will lay scriptures on their hearts. They also read widely – credible newspapers, the internet, commentators and books. They may go on prayer walks. They broaden their understanding (e.g. many are currently reading widely about Muslims and their beliefs; others will be monitoring the political situation in the UK, others watching the changing economic climate globally).
Blowing the trumpet is a risky business – what happens if it is wrong – if we have misread the situation? What happens if no one listens? Ezekiel 33 makes it clear – how people respond is up to them, our job is to blow the trumpet.
This is a time of many warnings – of danger from terrorists, of severe economic collapse, of God’s judgement on nations and situations. We can become very concerned, but all watchmen are subject to God – He is the ultimate watchman. Psalm 121 tell us “He who watches over will not slumber; indeed he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep”. God has called forth watchmen at this time – but ultimately it is up to all of us to weigh up the warnings and ask – is this God’s voice to us at this time. He warns us for a serious purpose – to lead to repentance, prayer, practical action. Our conference in March focuses on being in the presence – in these dangerous times we need to be listening, and responding – and for some of us the call will be to blow the trumpet of warning.
