Christian High School Student Killed in Pakistan
The father of a 17-year-old Christian who was killed in a school in Pakistan by at least one Muslim classmate said the attack was religiously motivated, a charge that police dispute.
Ilyasab Masih (father of the victim) stated that a teacher had set sent a strong non-verbal message of anti-Christian hostility by hitting and humiliating his son, Sharoon Masih, the day before the assault on Aug. 27.
Pray: for God’s comforting presence over all those grieving the loss of Sharoon Masih;
Pray: that the authorities will take action against the unjustified killing, and the perpetrator will be brought to justice.
Christian Father of Two in Pakistan Sentenced to Death for ‘Blaspheming’
Prophet of Islam
Christian father of two in Pakistan has been sentenced to death for blaspheming Islam’s prophet in a phone text even though he is illiterate, sources said.
Nadeem James, 27, was charged in July 2016 in Gujrat District after a friend, Yasir Bashir, complained to police that he received a poem via WhatsApp instant messaging that was derogatory towards Muhammad and other revered Islamic figures. Court sentenced James to death on Thursday (Sept. 14), as per sources.
Pray: that God would strengthen and comfort James and his family members during these trying times;
Pray: that the authorities will take measures to amend these stringent laws;
Pray: that authorities would intervene and release James;

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.[c].. .Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, the earth melts…He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth. He breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the shields[d] with fire… He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.” (from Psalm 46)
Having witnessed with our facilitation teams the Lord bringing an end to eight wars and ethnic conflicts over the last 20 plus years when His people come together in united, focused prayer, I have full confidence that we could see Him do the same in the current, very scary stand-off with North Korea. We must, however, not lose our sense of intercessory concentration on this most urgent international security threat. God will use our united prayers even more than THAAD high altitude missile defense systems to raise up a shield of 24/7 protection, a virtual fortress so that we do not have to fear as the above psalm tells us. He can make this conflict subside and enable a peaceful solution to be reached if we will continue to cover it in ongoing intercession.
Here is the latest on this worsening crisis:
1) The problem with the military option
An article in the Washington Times today offers this perspective:
“The most detailed analysis of all possible scenarios ranging from a “crushing U.S. military strike to eliminate Pyongyang’s arsenals of mass destruction, take out its leadership, and destroy its military” to “removing chairman Kim Jong-Un and his inner circle, most likely by assassination,” is provided by Mark Bowden in The Atlantic. His conclusion: All these options not only will carry huge human and material costs, but their end results will turn both the regional and the global situation from bad to worse.
Gregory Treverton, the former chair of the U.S. National Intelligence Council, agrees that “military options against the North’s nuclear arsenal suffer from two problems: they might not succeed, and Pyongyang has devastating retaliatory options.” (Washington Times, Sept 29)
Let us pray that these violent military options will not have to be used. They could unleash a destructive retaliation that would cause the deaths of many hundreds of thousands if not millions of people.
2) The danger of provocative actions
“Japanese Defense Minister Itsunori Onodera warned Friday that North Korea may engage in dangerous provocations next month. The Japanese defense minister’s call for caution came after South Korean National Security Adviser Chung Eui-yong made a similar warning the day before.
There are several dates North Korea might choose to mark with its own special brand of fireworks. Oct. 9 is the anniversary of North Korea’s first nuclear test, Oct. 10 is the anniversary of the founding of the North Korean communist party, and Oct. 18 marks the start of the twice-in-a-decade Communist Party Congress in China.” (DailyCaller.com, Sept 29)
Pray that the North Korean regime will be held back from launching provocative operations due to Kim Jong Un’s fear of losing face with his own people or as part of these upcoming anniversaries.
3) China’s key role and the important use of sanctions
Successive rounds of U.N. sanctions have cut off more than 90 percent of North Korea’s publicly reported exports — including coal, iron ore, seafood and, most recently, textiles — and have restricted the regime’s ability to earn foreign currency income by sending workers abroad.
China accounts for roughly 85 percent of North Korea’s external trade and is seen by many as the key to forcing Pyongyang to at least freeze its nuclear and missile programs.” (Washington Post, Sept 29th)
“China and the United States have developed a closer relationship due to North Korea’s antics, which former U.S. Ambassador to China Max Baucus describes as genuinely disgusting and frustrating to Chinese President Xi Jinping.” (Breitbart, Sept 29)
China is absolutely the key factor for the peaceful resolution of this crisis. Pray that China and the USA will work closely together to solve this great international security problem. Pray that China will continue to effectively shut down their trade and business connections with North Korea and that any smuggling or bypassing of this new embargo will be strictly prevented so that the North Korean regime’s economic ability to wage war is choked off.
4) The perilous connection with Iran
“Failure to stop North Korea will almost certainly lead to a failure to stop Iran. In the past, Pyongyang has transferred nuclear and missile technology to Iran, resulting in similar missiles appearing in military parades in both capitals. Iran is now much more developed in science and technology, and is likely to improve on North Korean systems.
Furthermore, Iran can keep within all the restrictions imposed on it by the nuclear deal and still develop and test its nuclear weapon and missile program in North Korea.” (Algemeiner.com, Sept 29th)
Let’s pray that the relationship of North Korea and Iran will be cut off and that as North Korea is dealt with, Iran’s capacity to build up nuclear weapons and missile program will also be curtailed through similar sanctions and united actions by the international community.
Thanks for continuing to cover this alarming situation in your prayers.
John Robb, IPC Chairman
Radical leftists mobilized by George Soros, the ACLU, Southern Poverty Law Center and instigated by all mass media's created stories, mainly led by CNN hope to increase the fire of violence from Charlottesville to nationwide CIVIL WAR on Nov 4th as they are openly announcing now. The situation makes us long for the day of miracles that happened in Dunkirk during May 1940. A desperate prayer gathering was held by about 100 strong at a small Bible College every night from 7:00 pm till midnight. They were on their knees day by day, holding fast the victory by faith, while British soldiers across the water were retreating mile by mile, whole countries surrendering, and the enemy was within sight of their goal.
Charlottesville situation; hundreds of protesters and counter protesters, clashed violently -- screaming, punching, clubbing, hurling water bottles and spraying one another with harsh chemicals before the scheduled demonstration. White supremacists, KKK, and neo-Nazis came to the demonstration, some armed for violence. Counter protestors, too, arrived, some similarly armed. Some were injured in clashes. Later, a man from Ohio with links to white supremacist activity rammed his car into a crowd of counter-protesters, killing one woman and injuring 19. Two law enforcement officers also died in a helicopter crash, and the radical leftists announced that they plan another nationwide riot in Nov 4th. It looks like this conflict will be endless. However we may pray with the faith of victory as Rees Howells prayed.
President Trump's statements then came out as below. Praise God!! our prayer is answered. We asked our Lord to speak through his mouth and he said;
"Above all else, we must remember this truth: No matter our color, creed, religion or political party, we are all Americans first. We love our country. We love our God. We love our flag. We are proud of our country. We're proud of who we are. So we want to get the situation straightened out in Charlottesville and we want to study it and we want to see what we're doing wrong as a country, where things like this can happen. My administration is restoring the sacred bonds of loyalty between this nation and its citizens -- but our citizens must also restore the bonds of trust and loyalty between one another. We must love each other, respect each other and cherish our history and our future together. So important. We have to respect each other. Ideally, we have to love each other."
What a powerful and righteous statement ! Please pray for President Trump that he may become one of great presidents of the USA.
Thank God that a group of conservative black pastors and Christian leaders held a press conference in Washington to respond to the media's attacks on the president. Corrogan Vaughn, a black Republican... argued that "those in the media who blame Trump for the racial tension in the United States are trying to turn Trump into a villain... Don't make our commander in chief a villain when in actuality it is more the [villainy] of the media in terms of making something where nothing is."
It is indeed amazing to watch Americans tortuously manipulated by the liberal media (See Conservative Black Leaders; Charlottesville Prayer Leader Reports; Hear Tony Perkins & Bishop Harry Jackson on Charlottesville -- ).
Prayer of Rev Pierre Bynum of the Family Research Council:
May the Church be wholly identified with Jesus Christ as Lord and love one another out of obedience to His commandment. May we stand against racism of every kind and encourage respect and love for one another as creations of God. May we advocate for justice and the swift execution of the laws against every form of violence. May all among us stand for the liberty to think and speak freely while rejecting every form of political correctness and identity politics. May we never forget our nation's history, the good and bad, knowing that God, Himself, was careful to include in Holy Scripture both the goodness and the sins of the men and women he used in Bible history so that we could learn from both (2 Chr 16:9; 20:3-17; Ps 33:20; Ps 34:7; Ps 110:10; Ps 112:4; Ps 115: all; Is 12:6; Jer 30:21; Eze 22:30; Rom 14:4; 1 Cor 13: all; Jas 2:13).

Let’s pray for the binding and overthrow of the spirits of division and conflict that are bedeviling the USA at this time. Pray that the planned November 4th “civil war” being organized by radical leftists supported by the billionaire narcissistic anarchist, George Soros, and others will be completely quelched and defeated an that those motivated by this destructive ideology will be set free from it
Tens of thousands of homes and huge loss of business and public property has been the result of America’s worst flooding disaster in Texas and Louisiana. Estimates for the recovery run from $150 to 180 billion. Hurricane Irma is also threatening to strike Florida over the next few days. Please pray for the relief and recovery efforts to be well organized and to go well so that the hundreds of thousands affected can get on their feet again. One pastor in Houston said that the Christian community across denominations and ethnic backgrounds has come together in unity as never before and has responded well to the needs of those who are suffering. Thank God for that!

The first Sunday of every October, Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem, www.daytopray.com
A humanitarian organization serving in Afghanistan has asked that we pray for this desperate situation.
“Please pray for us for the sister that was kidnapped three months ago on May, 20th. On May 21st, the kidnappers killed a German lady and the guard in connection with the abduction. In the meanwhile we received two videos that were published by the captivators where the sister pleaded for her release.
In her first video our sister pleaded for her life and asked the government of her home country to meet the demands of her kidnappers. But since then quite some time passed on and the kidnappers seem to get impatient.
In the second video she speaks about her disappointment that her home country is not helping her and is pleading again for her life. She seems to be under great pressure and has been forced to share about other like-minded rganizations in the country and to make some statements that can be dangerous for her.
We are very concerned about our young sister and our hearts were moved when we saw this video. She is in the hands of very cruel people and this is a very hard situation for her, especially as she feels being abandoned by her government and others and with not much hope to be freed.
- Let’s pray that she would soon be released unharmed
- Please pray also her organization and the government who have to make tough decisions.
- Pray also that our and other like-minded organizations in the country will not be endangered by information she might be forced to share.”
Pray for God’s protection over others serving in this troubled and embattled nation. Intercede for the overthrow of spiritual powers of darkness and destruction that control the Taliban and ISIS who continue to sow terror and death over wide swaths of the nation’s territory.
This helpful article from The Weekly will help you to understand the situation in North Korea and how we ought to pray about this very threatening situation:
“Here are five facts you should know about North Korea, the world’s most repressive regime:
- North Korea was created after the Korean peninsula was divided in the aftermath of World War II. Following the surrender of Japanese forces in 1945, Gen. Douglas MacArthur, supreme commander for the Allied powers, issuedGeneral Order No. 1. In this order, the Japanese empire was required to surrender all portions of Korea north of 38 north latitude to the Soviet Union and all of Korea south of that marker to the United States (thearbitrary choice of the dividing line, which has affected international relations for more than 70 years, was “recommended by two tired colonels working late at night”). That December, the Soviets installed a communist guerrilla leader named Kim Il-sung as the chairman of the North Korean branch of the Korean Communist Party. When the DPRK was formed in September 1948, the Soviets recognized Kim Il-sung as the leader of Korea, both North and South. The autocratic Kim family—Kim Il-sung, his son Kim Jong-il, and grandson Kim Jong-un—have ruled the country every since.
- Soon after taking control of his country, Kim Il-sung developed such a strong personality cult that under the DPRK constitution he remains, even in death, the “eternal President of the Republic.” Within a year of being appointed premier, Kim Il-sung was referring to himself as “The Great Leader” and erecting statues of himself (the country now has more than 500 statues of him). His birthday is a national holiday known as the “Day of the Sun”, and in 1997 Kim Il-sung even created a new calendar that recalculated time from the year 1912, when he “came to earth from Heaven.”
- In 1972, after he surrendered his Soviet premiership and became President of North Korea, Kim Il-sung instituted the ideology known asJuche, a form of hyper-nationalistic self-reliance. As theDPRK explains, “The Juche idea means, in a nutshell, that the masters of the revolution and construction are the masses of the people and that they are also the motive force of the revolution and construction. The Juche idea is based on the philosophical principle that man is the master of everything and decides everything.” Writing in the Stanford Journal of East Asian Affairs, Grace Lee explains how this official autarkic state ideology is used to keep the North Korean population under control:
The Kim Il Sung regime instructed the North Korean people in the juche ideology using an analogy drawn from human anatomy. The Great Leader is the brain that makes decisions and issues orders, the Party is the nervous system that channels information, and the people are the bone and muscle that physically execute the orders. This belief system, inculcated in North Koreans since early childhood, made them docile and loyal to Kim Il Sung even in the face of famines and energy crises that have devastated the country.
- Knowledge of the outside world is limited for most North Korean citizens. All legal televisions aretuned to state-controlled domestic programming, and outside of a closed domestic network, there is no internet access. The state maintains a network of informants who monitor and report to the authorities fellow citizens they suspect of criminal or subversive behavior,USA Today notes, and unauthorized access to non-state radio or TV broadcasts is severely punished.
- Religious freedom is nonexistent in the country. The North Korean regime considers Christianity the biggest threat,as the USCIRF says, because it associates that faith with the West, particularly the United States. The North Korean government relentlessly persecutes and punishes religious believers through arrest, torture, imprisonment, and sometimes execution. Once Christians are imprisoned, they are typically sent to political prison camps where they are “treated with extraordinary cruelty.” According to the U.S. State Department, tens of thousands of Christians are in political prison and facing hard labor or execution because of their faith.
- Kim Jong-un’s regime is intent on developing an intercontinental ballistic missile that can strike the U.S. with nuclear warheads. He believes this will help him reach his main strategic goal, whichthe Pentagon identifiesas ensuring “Kim family rule in perpetuity.” The Pentagon also notes that the overarching national security objectives of Kim Jong-un have remained largely consistent: international recognition as a nuclear armed state; maintenance of a viable deterrent capability; the simultaneous development of its economy and nuclear weapons program (i.e., the “byungjin” line); reinforcement of its military-first approach to domestic and foreign affairs (“songun”); tight control over communications, borders, movement, and trade; and reunification of Korea under North Korea’s control.” The Defense Department says North Korea uses reunification with South Korea as a key component of its national identity narrative to validate its strategy and policies, and to justify sacrifices demanded of the populace.”

Please watch and pray over the news from the Korean peninsula. This is the most threatening and dangerous situation the world faces right now and it looks to be worsening. Pray that the North Koreans will back down from their provocative actions and that Kim Jong Un will either change course or be removed by his own government or by Chinese intervention. Pray that a military confrontation that could take the lives of hundreds of thousands or even millions would be averted. Ask that God would give special wisdom and restraint to President Trump, President Xi Jinping of China, President Moon Jae-in of South Korea as well as all other leaders involved in the current crisis that a peaceful solution can be found to ending North Korea’s nuclear threats and weapons program
